Don't think positive


Have you come across the phrase like: “Positive Vibes only” or “Positive self-talk” or “Positive Environment” .May be “Think Positive” is the most common advise you ever receive.
Did you ever question: “Why must I think “positive” alone?”

Remember the last time you had a bad day and you shared it with your colleague(friend, parent, sister, stranger…)who happened to have an amazing day? Remember how after you complaint about everything beneath the sky- office space, work, relationship, future, past etc. And guess what type of reaction you got?...just “Oh”…and started speaking about how amazing the coffee tasted this morning.


He listen all the negative vibes and frustration that you had to share. But hey!!!! Positives Vibes only! Hence back to morning coffee.
A hypocrisy of this cult of positive thinking damages two aspect of our mind:

  1.    ..Love, Happiness, Kindness, hope, faith are amazing. So “do not concentrate on their antonyms”:  Hate, Ignorance, dogma, despair, meanness……But they are REAL.  Today is the world which encourages gardening when we sad, facebooking when depressed, eating pizza when stressed. But in a longer way your mind will rebel and the rage will come out. The problem is within you and we search solution outside.
  2.       Suppresses(and not negates)a lot of negativity within. We have days when we days when we hate talking to people and we do not know why. Who will know why, If we ourselves don’t. right?. Hence I believe that the positive self-talk, or telling “its okay”, creates a bubble of self-deceit. Who can be happy by deceiving?


Hence zen Master says , no philosophy of “think positive” or “think negative” is complete. Each suppresses the reality. Do not think positive. “Think everything”.
I believe that we need to feel all the emotions and keep the choice of being influenced by them in our hand.
